Good afternoon.
Brand new to the forum. Great site!

I have a 1913 mfg 1873 in 32-20. I have read that the firing pin retractor keeps the rifle from going off if it is dropped or receives a sharp blow. I cannot figure how this could possible be true. There is nothing for the part to cam against and certainly nothing to release it when the trigger is pulled.

At best it is a retainer, not a retractor. Am I right? If not I sure would love to see how it is supposed to work.

Thanks!!

Alan
