Herb Parsons in "Winchester 73"

I think it is fitting to include a bit about the best salesman Winchester ever had. Not only did Herb put on exhibitions, but he was required to sell rifles and shotguns at each show. I have a Winchester Model 71 and every time I look at it I think of Herb Parsons doing the aerial shot for Jimmy Stewart in the movie 'Winchester 73'. What has always puzzled me is why Herb chose the 71 Winchester. It was chambered in the .348 and considered one of the most powerful rounds produced for a lever action.
Herb Parsons is still a legend and worth a search to read of his exploits.

I was fortunate to have met both of Mr. Parsons sons when Tom Knapp did an exibition at the Grand American when it was still in Vandalia, Ohio. This was in the late '90's or early '00's. Mr. Knapp was inspired to become an exibition shooter by Mr. Parsons and paid tribute to him throughout the show.
I felt like a 10 year old.
