Well, of course, I cant find any jacketed bullets for my model 94. I ordered some 165 cast, no Gc from falcon bullets. Looks like they are pretty much the same as the ones Missouri bullet sells. Anyone have any experience with these, or similar? I am wondering just how fast I can push them before leading becomes a problem. I know a lot of folks shoot them at low velocity ( 1100-1400 FPS) using various pistol powders, but that isnt really what i want... I would like 1800 fps or so

I cast and load my own cast bullets for 30-30; and several others as well. 1800 is not out of the question but you really need to work up, not for reasons of pressure, as with jacketed bullets, but in order to observe how these cast bullets work in the bore of your gun. If they don't fit properly you could have a fouled throat and bore long before you ever get close to 1800. Many, many powders are not compatible with cast bullets and will give you fits right away. You didn't state what you were going to use as propellent.

SOrry, I have W748, 2400, and unique. I loaded some with 9.0 unique, I know it wont be the velocity I am looking for, but I will see how they shoot with that, If it is accurate, and doesnt lead, I may try a 2400 load at the low end and start working up

Ok, I understand now. I find that 4759, 5744 and Reloader 7 work well for me in reaching the upper ranges. I have 2 30-30s; Savage and Winchester, the Savage is easier to fine tune loads for, and more accurate. The Winchester does almost as good, but the Savage is a 1936 vintage and the 94 is 30 years newer. Cast bullets are a lot of fun.

Loaded a few with 9 grains unique. they pretty much shot a pattern rather than a group out of both the marlin and winchester..............I am new to rifles, though I have been shooting hanguns for 30 years.
With open sights on the winnie , i can shoot a 2 or 3 inch group at 50 yards with a hornady 150 jacketed RN over 35.0 grains of W748. the unique load shot a "group " of a foot or so at the same distance.....
Guess i have some work to do
