Winchester M97 Problems

Winchester Model 97, 12 ga, solid frame, DOM 1931. After a shot is fired and the empty shell extracted, the bolt binds (hangs-up) at the back of the receiver approx 90% of the time.
How do I fix the problem?

What about the loading gate underneath.Is it free or binding?

it sounds like the boss on the slide arm (from the for-end) is worn and is allowing the bolt to stay to deep in the frame you may have to weld and file the boss to take up slack
