Transferring our conversation over from Win 100 to hunting as that is now the direction we seem to be going in.
 So how long was your shot and how was the bullet placement? Running fallow or feeding? Happy meals ahead for you. Hi WR, Shoulder shot at about 80m. She had just come out of the shadows and was looking around. Our Fallow a quite small, probably the smallest deer that we have, a well placed 223 will get the job done. So the Win 100 in 308 left no room for argument. |

Well done, 41STH! I've always felt harvesting a completely calm animal made the meat taste better- and the smaller the tastier in my opinion. Enjoy the fruits of your labor!

I fully agree with you WR.
I'm too old to chase them and carry weight, slow and small is now all that I'm interested in. Its back straps are in the fridge - Curry, veges on rice. But its so hot here at present, I can only face salads. (Sorry but that's how it is). Best of fortunes with your new toy, good hunting and when you fall over use your body to protect the 100 !!!!! |

Salads are good but keep the protein sources on hand and available.

I agree 257, the 100 must be one of the best looking rifles, I do like the swept back look. When I met the girl that finally became my good lady wife, she owned a pre WW2 Browning semi 22 take down. I was probably more attracted to the Browning, but you know that there's no such thing as a free lunch. The rifle just happened to come with a wife attached....

Hi Folks,
Not much been happening, it's our Winter, which is more miserable and wet rather than miserable and cold. Had several days of good weather so took the 100 bush today, another goat for a casserole. Still haven't had need for a quick second or third shot though, so I may as well be using a drop block or similar. Keep safe and good huntin. |
