I'm purchasing a new Winchester model 1885 highwall 38-55.
I plan on using starling brass..do I order the long 38-55 brass for these Winchester 2016 production year chamber or the short brass..I plan to use lead bullets.

Yes, go with the long brass. My .38-55 is an 1898 vintage Winchester 1894 saddle carbine and it will take either. If you cast, the LEE or Lyman 255gr. fn pb bullet works well with IMR4198 powder.

I'm really looking forward to working up so loads for this rifle once I get it home. ..
I ordered the brass, and dies from Midway USA this weekend , I also ordered a Meister bullet slug kit for this new rifle..I think this will help me out and then I'll order some bullets once I slug the barrel, and chamber throat.
I would think since this is a new 2016 Winchester production rifle there barrels and Chambers are pretty much all the same..and another forum member could tell me what bullet dia. To use but this way I know for sure ..for peace of mind and no questions.
