Shooter13:

Thanks! The Pre 64's have been going up in price. I spot check Gunbroker and other sites and I have been seeing asking prices as high as $800! Not that anyone pays that much, but the average price I see is $700.

I love those rifles. Their compact size as well as accuracy are great for shooting and hunting in PA. I see that you are located in PA too. Lots of wooded land makes for closer targets, if you get to see anything once the first shot is fired during hunting season.

Edit:

I forgot to mention that I replaced the sling on both rifles since I took those pictures. Both of those old leather slings were dry rotting! I found a good leather dealer at the Centre County Grange Fair Gun Show and bought a couple of really nice (and wider) slings for my old Winnies.

Cheers!

Yes sir...excellent brush gun for PA whitetail hunting...

I'm located in Montgomery county...but do most of my kayaking, camping and hunting near and in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon...Tioga county...bordered by Leonard Harrison State Park (East Rim) and Colton Point State Park (West Rim)...with Pine Creek at the bottom of the gorge.

I use to go up to that area back in the nineties, before the Shale Oil explosion. A few years ago I was up on Route 44 in the town of Black Forest and stopped in the Black Forest Inn. Really crowded with Penn State Football on a large screen TV. The last time I was up that way, the BF Inn wasn't even open. The camp ground across from the BF INN had hardly any campers back in the old days. This last visit surprised me!

Being that you spend a lot of time there, has the Shale Oil ruined that area? Tioga and Potter Counties are some of the most remote and heavily wooded areas in the state. Absolutely beautiful.

Cheers!

I paid $175 for my 1976 Winchester 94 back in 2000. I bought the 30-30 to go deer hunting with my father-in-law, before I decided I don't like hunting, LOL--but I got a good gun out of the deal.

I bought my Mod 94 (.30-30 WIN) in OCT '14. It's a 1968 Standard Carbine. After taxes, I was out the door for just under $250. Decent metalwork, stock somewhat abused but doesn't look like it has had too many rounds thru it. I thought it was a fair price.

It looks like my new Miroku built (April of 2015) will come to $1,150 plus $92.00 in NYS tax. This is the 30-30 Sporter version with the 24" barrel and checkering. Not a inexpensive rilfe. I did look at thousands of rifles before choosing this. I have a 1973 Winchester 94 which I bought from the Winchester Custom Shop. I do not remember what I paid for that. It was well over $350 and might have been almost $500????
