I have a model 1894 winchester 30WCF with the serial numbers of "LL7207". I can't find any info on this. I'm 99% sure those are the correct markings. I thought it might be "11" instead of "LL" but I've looked many times and had more then 3 people look and see the same thing. Any info on this would be great. I'm knew to the whole winchester thing but I acquired 7 of them from my grandfather about 20 years ago and decided to start doing some research. Again thank you for all the info.

I found a very good document on the Winchester web site with serial number ranges for Model 1894s made from 1894 to 1991. This document does not show any numbers beginning in LL. If your serial number is actually 117207 it would have been made in 1898. The newer Miroku made rifles have alphabet characters in the serial numbers but your grandfather would probably not have had one of those 20 years ago. Perhaps someone else on the forum will know of some other possibility for a S/N beginning in LL. You can find the Winchester serial number document at: http://www.winchesterguns.com/support/files/images/wfa/2012-All/2012-Articles/Winchester-Manufacture-Dates-by-Year----2012-Scanned-Documents.pdf |

The L is well known among many M94 collectors. There was a time period where a 1 stamp was used that was broken. There are quite a number of these M94s that slipped through with this L instead of 1. If you want to date the gun consider the L as a one.
