just bought a great shape 1894 full 26in oct barrel leaver action 30-30 rifle grooves down the pipe look great, plan on using it for deer hunting.

Whats a good off the shelf loads that you guys fine these old guns like?

also would lead hard cast bullets be better to use in it? barrel looks great and done wanna wear it out thanks

Off the shelf, I've used both Remington Core Lokt and Federal Fusion 150 & 170 grain in my 1894 .30WCF to harvest white tail in Pennsylvania.
