Hello,

I am new to this forum but not to the shooting sports.
I recently inherited a Winchester 94 ser#27795xx from my father who bought it new.
I have all of the paperwork, box and what looks to be some sort of rust preventing brown paper in the box. The rifle has seen time in the deer woods since new as that was his intended purpose.
So my question is..Proofhouse dates this to being made in 1964. So is it a Pre-64..or a Post 64 model. It does have a metal butt plate (checked it with a magnet) but also looks to have a thin "elevator" although I have nothing to compare it to.
I am really curious.
Any information or insight as to what I have would be appreciated.

The post 64 model began with S.N. 2,700,000.

So close but yet so far I guess....

The gun is in great shape and with all the supporting items (box, manual etc.) I still like it.
And the fact that Dad bought it new and now I have it is worth alot to me.

Just wish he would have made his purchase a lilttle earlier (Pre-64).

Still I'm sure it is priceless to you. That's all that really matters.

That is really true. I guess at the end of the day if I'm going to keep it (which I am ) All that really matters is that it is worth a ton to me because it was his.
I would never sell it because of that.
I guess I am happy to know for sure what it is and what it is not though.

As says Renneberg : "a 94 is still a 94" even if it was manufactured after 1963.
Furthermore it is the one of your father so it has no price !
