Going rate for a Model 94 made in 1980

I own a few Model 94 Pre 64's and they are excellent rifles.

I know a guy that has a Model 94 in great shape that was made in 1980. I realize it is not made from all Forge Steel parts like the Pre 64's and I am wondering if Winchester had addressed the problems they had with early Post 64's. It looks like it was hardly fired. He wants $325 for it.

Anyone know about the rifles made during that time frame and have a guess on the price?

Thanks!

Hey Mike...

I own a '94 top eject made in 1977 and can say it is a quality firearm just made for hunting whitetail in my native Pennsylvania...

As far as that price...offer him $300 and GRAB IT !!!!

Hope that helps... ;)

Prior to purchasing a 1968 WIN Mod 94 in OCT of last year (2014) I had paid little, if any, attention to the going prices of the Winchester Model 94s. Since then however my interest has been piqued. I have not seen a single post-'64 WIN Mod '94 at any of my LGSs priced less than $350. (and that one had some significant corrosion on the action and internal components) I'm thinkin' if you can get a post-'64 WIN Mod'94 for $300-$400 (condition dependent) you should go for it. If I was selling, I'd start at least at $450 if it was in any kind of decent condition (but be prepared to dicker).

I have been looking at Model 1894 Winchester all over for the last two years. I paid about $1,250 for my new one. I did not see one for sale for less than $500. I saw OLD beat up looking rifles they wanted $2,500 for. The rifle you describe at $325 is LESS than big gun stores would pay to a seller to resell at a fairly higher price. I would not even try to coax him down for fear he'd just raise his price out of disgust but it sounds like you know the seller.
