Just picked up my fourth Winchester and have questions. It's a 1894 carbine in 30-30, built in '63 SN 25555344. The seller says the stocks were refinished but I suspect it may have been restocked at some point.
The checkered steel butt plate has a bit of a curve in it but does not conform to the curve cut on the end of the buttstock. I have poked around the Web for about an hour and have found pictures of carbines with dead straight butts and some with a slight curve. Can anyone tell me which is correct?
This gun will be a shooter, not a safe queen, but I like my shooters to be pretty and reasonably correct.

Hello OldEvo........glad you are here.
My 1928 SRC 32 WCF has a slight curved plate.

This is what I have. If the stock is appropriate to this '94 built in 1963 I will bend the plate to fit it. I have not found any definitive information as to whether the butt should be straight or slightly curved like this stock and I doubt this is the original stock to the gun.

Looks to be a replacement stock to include an incorrect butt plate. I'm guessing from what I can see in the pic.

Here is another photo of plate and stock. I think that is the correct style plate for this gun but am not sure of the stock.

Not just right as the previously pic indicates a raw fit butt plate. Just don't look correct. Wood looks good. Unless you are concerned with for sale value, accept the configuration and enjoy.
