Hello, I am new to Winchester lever guns but have several Marlin LG. I have be searching to find a SIMPLE cleaning instruction video but I only find complete takedown videos. I just want to take the bolt out but it seems the only way is a complete disassembly? I love this gun its near perfect and need to move up the learning curve.

I used to remove the finger lever link screw, the finger lever, pull down on the hammer and remove the bolt assembly intact. From there you can get to the barrel through the action and use a standard bore mop and cleaning rod or forget removal of the bolt and use the Bore Snake, which is slick as a whistle.

If it was easy, anybody could do it.

Ok I think I got it. When I take out the finger lever screw the finger lever and the locking bolt will drop allowing the bolt to be pulled out. You said used to do, what do you do now?

I sold my 30-30 Model 94 as it was a top eject and a side saddle scope was not for me. I now have a pair of Marlin 336's.
