Pre 64 front sight question

I posted earlier about my pre 64 circa 1906. I have a problem with the front sights. It looks like someone used solder on it. Is it something I can get fixed or replaced at a gunsmith?

I would believe a Smith could take care of the sight homicide. A matter of seeking out the shop that has the savvy.

Thanks for the replies. I really dont know what the past owner was thinking. Actually, I dont even know why there is solder there to begin with. It doesnt look like the sight was broken or anything

Looks identical to the sight on my 1928 SRC. The sight is pinned. Perhaps the pin was lost, or the blade broke away. Can't see for sure by the pic. If it were pinned, a replacement could have been purchased or milled.

It was pretty hard to have my camera focus on it. Is the pin the circle part at bottom of the sight?

It also looks like the sight and where the sight attaches the gun isnt centered? It looks fine when im aiming but if you look from the front then it looks off to one side. Is that also something the gunsmith could fix? What do you think something like all of this will cost?

Some early 94s, the front blades came in several configurations. Such as fixed blades of different heights and rotating blades. I have changed mine out several times over the past thirty-years. Have 3 sights that pin on and off.
My sight has the pin without shroud of any type. Can you see a pin? Cost for repair/replace.....I don't know. Might be serious surgery or a simple fix. If you are comfortable with disassembly, take the barrel and go visit some shops. GOA Life Member

1928 SRC sight. Also a blade and flip that pins in place.

I agree someone buggered that up but why is the question! Do you reckon the solder was to keep the front sight post from moving around? Makes no sense otherwise. Shouldn't be an expensive repair I wouldn't think either. I'd want a competent armorer/gunsmith working on it however. Also, Just a question. The pic you show from the front of the barrel looking towards the rear is it possible that the magazine bands are loose allowing the magazine to twist some making it appear as if the front sight is completely off center?

Well i just checked and the magazine bands arent loose. I also looked at it from the top of the barrel and it just looks off to one side.

There is a pin. Now I suspect the sight was loose and thus the solder. Replacing the assembly might be necessary. Unless, a Smith can crimp the assembly without breaking.
