winchester model 70 feather weight .308

i just bought a winchester model 70 featherweight in a .308 the serial number indicates it was made in 1953 it shoots great and came with a older leopuold vari x11 3x9x40 i picked it up for $180 bucks how much are these worth? im not real educated with older firearms but know these are worth abit any info would b greatly appreciated.

As I am not a collector I can't answer the worth question but I would suggest you play the lottery soon as you are really, really lucky. :mrgreen: In my opinion any serviceable pre 64 Model 70 is worth more than $180. And the Leupold is icing on a really good cake. Congratulations.

I paid $550 for mine, 1950s, no scope. It is a good shooter. Stock is scarred, but it hunts. I think my price was fair but not a bargain. Please buy me a lottery ticket.

A 1953 Featherweight in .308 would be a find.

Around here old M70 are $800 - $1200 unless special like in .338. I paid 900ish each for a couple .308 FW at Cabelas

The Model 70 in .308 would make a great featherweight regular or FWT compact. Too bad there aren't more out there. I'd say absolute minimal price for one at any age would be $500 without a scope. Plan on twice that for a new rifle with no scope. It would however be a real accurate rifle!
