After some info on a Winchester model 70. A local has one for sale. Now I no you can't tell me the exact price ect, without seeing the rifle in person. It is in nearly perfect condition the stock is still in a1 condition and the barrel still holds all its blue. I took it out for a shot today and it shoots very well. What are these rifles fetching around your local gun stores? I'm in Australia so I know the price would be different. Were they mass produced or are they not so common? Any info guys is appreciated !

Need to know more specific info. Pre 64 are worth more than post 1964. They were mass produced. Some calibers are worth more than others. What is the caliber, is the wood fancy grain, what is the checkering like? Pictures always help determine value.

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes it is pretty fancy looking timber. Chambered in .243. The checkering was still good it seems as tho it been kept in a safe locked up and not used for some time.

Here in Ohio push feed M70s are undervalued. Though they may be considered bastard children by many, they are fine rifles in their own right. (in 1964 Winchester should have just discontinued the M70, and named the new rifle something else.

I heartily recommend them to folks who are looking for good inexpensive rifles, and would take one any day over any of the new "budget guns" with rough machine work, flimsy plastic stocks and bead blasted matte finishes. 95% post 64 M70s are priced at or under $500 U.S. around these parts. I don't know what that translates to in A.D. They are priced a few dollars more than a new "budget rifle" and less than half of what a new M70 sells for.

I'm from Oz too and if it's going for under $600 you are doing well. Winchester 670 or Win 70s with a blind magazine go between $450 - $850 depending on condition. Winchester 70s usually go from $600 to $1,500 dpending on model and condition. These are all pushfeed actions. Pre 64s start from $1,500 for a beat up job to the sky is the limit for a rare calibre. New ones with the control round feed action can be had from $1,300. I know this as I buy and sell Winchester 70s & 670s rifles and parts here in Melbourne.
