... limited budget, was thinking about the Model 70 Ultimate Shadow in .30-06. Not new to firearms, have been shooting and reloading rifles, handguns and shotguns since the early 60's. Wanted to hear what some of you good folks think about the value of this specific M70 model. Yes, I will be reloading and already have a nice Nikon 4-12x40 to stick on. I think this rifle also has an adjustable trigger and a 24" blued barrel ... ?

A .30-06 is always a good choice as is a Model 70. Nuff said.

Are you going to use this rifle for hunting, punching paper, both, other? It'll be good at all of them!

I've had lots of success in the past with the Sierra 168 grain MatchKings for .30-06. Of course, this was for my Garand, so the load was a bit lighter than you might want to use in the Model 70.

What are you using?

The Ultimate Shadow Model 70 is a fantastically good rifle! 30-06 is certainly a good caliber!
