My Grandson is an auto person so I fixed him up with high power and .22.
I am a bolt man,, presently using a model 70 dbm (presently being the last 20 years). Can someone recommend a winchester .22 to complement my 70?? Yeah I know a 52, best made but costly...

The Model 131 was known as a "mini M-70" by some. They're fairly inexpensive, (around $200.00-$250.00) these days, but have been out of production for a while now. I have a M-69A and like it just fine, the M-75, (can't see much difference between it and the 69A) is also a very nice gun and will compliment a M-70 well.

Here's my M-69A, an early target model. My brother has a later sporter. If I remember right, 69A production ran side by side with pre 64 M-70's, 1937-1963. The M-75, almost a twin to the 69A ran a little later, but still ended in 1963. The 131 was post 1964, but still a fine rifle.

Kimber of America .22lr rifles are a mini Model 70 design, with a claw extractor and 3 position wing safety.

i kknow nothing about them but has anyone had any experience with CZ 22's ?? most of the 69-a's i'm seeing are priced up there with new rifles of other makes

CZs are fine rifles for the money, they look good and are dead nutz accurate. The 452 has only one minor shortcoming, and that is the trigger, but it is easily fixed with a $10 spring kit.

There was a Model 72 produced in .22 LR bolt action for a lot of years. The one I have was built in 1940. It is very accurate. It was the first rifle I hunted with and I still have it just as I used for years. Still have just the same iron sights etc. They are not nearly as expensive as the Model 52s Winchesters. If I was buying a new one I would get a CZ in a bolt gun the America 452, The 1022 in a auto from Ruger, and a Henry H001 in a lever action. All are pretty accurate. The Ruger is fast shooting, the Henry is USA built and very popular, the CZ has been made as long as any .22 LR on the entire market. With the CZ you get a decidely Euro looking stock and a very thin trigger guard, although it sure works fine all the way around. The Model 72 Winchester would have to be bought used as they are no longer made just the same as the very nice 1894 9422 Winchester used to make. Now they can't compete with Henry or Uberti for price....
