I have a family rifle I am trying to get a value and rarity for to sell for the best fairest price. 2668xx serial # .The stock is loosing the lacquer but wood and checkering nice yet. A few scratches near left of bolt fro hunting. Weaver bases on it. No rear sight, has front and middle one. The blue is real nice with about 6 small dings about 5 inches in from muzzle. Great bore and overall a darn great FW Mod 70 .308
I'll try to figure out posting some pictures...and thanks for future info for me.

Jake, while I am a big fan of the Model 70 and have some general knowledge, I can't help with your price question. You might query some of the gun auction sites and see what completed auctions brought for this type of rifle. You may even find some ongoing auctions helpful as to price. According to Rule's book the rifle was made in late summer 1953. Some other members here believe Madis' book to be more accurate as to dates of manufacture and I certainly don't argue that position. And again, according to Rule's book, the .308 would be second only to the .30-06 as to numbers produced. He states that 40,989 .308s were made prior to 1964.

A good used (shooter not collector condition) .308 in my area usually sells for $500-$700.
