I have a 1955 model 70. Although the stack is beautiful it has no checkering. I am concluding that it must have been replaced at sometime. Correct assumption?

Well I dug out my 1955 Winchester catalog. All Model 70's in the description showed them all having hand checkered stocks, except the Model 70 Target rifles which only mentioned a checkered steel butt plate. Photos do not show any checkering on the stocks.

Can you provide some photos of this Model 70? Hopefully someone with more knowledge about these will chime in!
