Pauline, you accomplish beautiful work. Enjoyed flipping through your web site. Wondering if hand-engraving, like mechanical watch repair, is becoming extinct?

My Winchester inventory:

1940 pump 97 takedown 12 gauge
1928 SRC 30-30
1977 9422M
2003 9410 Ranger (NIB)

I think the old hammer and chisel method that I was taught is becoming extinct. A lot of the engravers today use the pneumatic engraving tools. They still do nice work but I am old school. I think you have a little more control when doing it by hand.

I suspect there is constant concern with hand-engraving toward a slight error that could reduce an expensive firearm to a wall-hanger. You are a unique metal artist. May you live long, enjoy good health and continue chiseling away with pride.
