My first shotgun

I picked up this shotgun about 4 years ago ( Lanber Sporting Deluxe 12g ) and although it was second hand , it is in A1 condition and has never let me down.

The trouble now is , that since i bought my SX3 this gun never gets used ,

Hi all :)

I was just wondering if any of you guys have heard of this Turkish made shotgun , the Armsan A612s Sporting 12g.

A couple of days ago i popped into my local gunsmith to buy some ammo and the owner passed me a shotgun and asked for my opinon , it was the Armsan.

Basically , at a first glance the gun looked just like the SX3 flannigun but , after a couple of minutes of handling , it was quite clear to me that this gun was nowhere near the quality of any winchester. It felt quite bulky and heavy to me and lacked the appeal of more expensive shotguns , especially my SX3.

When i told the owner of the shop my thoughts he laughed and said , our local salesman is trying to flog me a few , but i don't think i'll bother , coz i agree with you , i just don't think they will sell.

Here is the link showing the gun , and another link showing it in action , but unfortunately , any comments are in Turkish ,

Regards ,

Mark

Here is a picture of my first shotgun...a Stoeger Uplander side by side or double as they are sometimes refered to by shotgun aficionados.

Image

She is a 12 gauge field grade model that come with American Walnut stocks and a 26" ribbed barrel that is fixed choked IC & M and has a gold bead sight. Weight is around 7.5lbs unloaded. I bought her for $180 way back in the day...before the company was bought by Sako, then Benelli, then by Berretta. She retails now for around $400 today...

I took my very first deer with a "pumpkin ball" slug on a hunting trip with my father, and have used it since then to take duck, pheasant, quail, turkey, rabbit, fox, groundhog, and just about any other small game you can think of.

Marlin Model 19, 12ga

I love this Model 19. With the slide-action, the pump forces the bolt through the breach and cocks the hammer much like a lever action rifle. It's a great lookin shotgun and is in remarkable condition considering it was made between 1906-1907.

I liked my Mossberg 590 Cruiser, but with the pistol grip only set-up I didn't get out and shoot it very often. So, I picked up the Blackhawk Knoxx SpecOps adjustable stock this afternoon. Installation was a breeze.

...and with the new stock...

Here it is with the 590A1...

So if it's not a Cruiser anymore I guess it's a "Tactical Breacher" or "590 SP" now, not sure what to call it. The new rig is a much more practical for me and it'll get a lot more range time now. It's got a great feel to it and I can't wait to get it out to the range tomorrow.

Man this weapon feels great! Can't wait to get out to the range with it. Sadly, the local range is closed over the weekend due to Easter. Looks like I'll have to just drool over it for another week until I can get out to the range to take her for a test drive...

Excellent shotgun display.

I must pick the Marlin as it's a dead-ringer for my 1940 Winchester 97.

My non-Winchesters are:

1941 Stevens 20 ga single top-break from my late Dad
1880 Colt 10 ga coach double

No pic for Stevens. Will click a pic and post later.
