Hi, I am new to Winchester. I just purchased this 94 # 501xxxx got it for $375.00 which I thought was a good deal. I know that the weapon was made in 1980. When I picked it up the old man who sold it to me said he had his first one stolen so he ordered this one. My question is does anyone know about the brass studs in the forearm. He said that he special ordered it with them and with the silver saddle ring. I looked and looked but did not see anything that looked like it. Does it add any value? I know that it's not a heirloom yet for me , but it's a keeper. No rust or scratches just loss of blueing in spots where it would be carried. Any info would be great.....thanks

That story isn't adding up to me. If it was special ordered that way it would have gone through the Custom Shop. I was working there then and I can tell you that they did not have furnished brass studs for any gun.

They look factory done. Not a homemade job. Thanks for the info.

Ok I don't understand. I am sure you know what you are talking about but why would the old guy say that It's not like he wanted to get the price up. At $375 he went down on price. The gun shoots great.

Don't ask me. Maybe he got mixed up. The only gun I know of that had any studs in the wood, and they weren't anything like those, was on the Chief Crazy Horse commemorative. If you special ordered anything, it went through the Custom Shop. They just didn't offer studs in guns.
