Model 70 .30 GOV'T 06 Carbine

Some years ago I came across a buy of several guns from a friend. In the group was the following rifle and I would like to know exactly what I have.
1) Model 70, marked .30Gov't06 (Broken stamp on the 06)
2) 20" bbl
3) Military(?) rear sight
4) 1" Swivels
5) S/N 88600 (1948 best I can figure)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
