I have an older (1930's) model 12 pigeon grade and recently when shooting a couple rounds of trap I had a delay fire issue occur twice within 50 rounds. I distinctly felt the trigger "click" but the round did not immediately detonate. Wisely, I held the muzzle down range and within a second or two the round discharged. Anyone out there have a similar experience or know what may be casuing this issue? Thanks

No, definitely not an ammo problem, both times the round discharged as if the weapon was not in battery then locked into battery and the firing pin released, igniting the primer. I am just wondering if the model 12 has an inertial slide lock or the shotgun has a mechanical defect.

Ok, sorry, at first I misunderstood the issue what you were talking about. If its not a regular hang fire issue, then maybe its a good job for a gunsmith.

It still sounds like an ammo problem as the model 12 will continue to fire as long as the trigger is depressed and you continue to cycle the slide. My dad had this shooting mastered when shooting doves back in the 60s. The primer will detonate when the slide locks forward and the trigger depressed and will continue to do so until you release the trigger. IMHO Both of my model 12's operate this way and so did my model '97 is memory serves me.

It's the action release bar, It has a broken spring. Pull it out and look at it I think you'll find the problem.
