Hi everyone,

I am a retired army guy that really likes guns.

I joined hoping to get some info on a 30-06 featherweight I own. It has a 22" barrel, and a CRF action.

The serial # is G23XXX.

Is it possible this could be a pre-64?

I have seen a website claiming it to be built in 69 but understand that there wasn't a CRF built that year.

Thanks for any help.

Tom

Good morning and welcome. A quick look at this http://www.winchesterguns.com/content/dam/winchester-repeating-arms/support/faq/serial-number-reference/Winchester-Manufacture-Dates-by-Year-2012-Scanned-Documents.pdf indicates the early to mid 90s for a date on your rifle.

Have a good day there.

Lennie, the historian at Winchester told me this morning it was made in early 1991. It is a Classic Featherweight. Thanks for all the responses.

Hello tomggray!
Glad to meet you.
One of my best friends and hunting/shooting mentor uses the Model 70 Classic.
He does not use CRF exclusively but mighty close to it (70 Classic's Interarms Mark X/Zastava CRF and other "98" Mauser types.
I too like CRF rifles as I own and have had no troubles with push feed rifles.
Happy Thanksgiving.
When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk. Tuco
